Wildcats cruise to 7-0 win

Levercom scores twice
On a beautiful fall afternoon the St. Kate's soccer team saw their offense come alive. They fired 39 shots, had three different players score two goals, and defeated Martin Luther College 7-0. The win raises St. Kate's record to 8-7-2 overall.

Kelsey Nistler wasted no time in getting the scoring started. At the 1:37 mark in the game she was able to pick up a rebound and put it into the back of the net to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

Approximately ten minutes later Nistler scored again. This time she converted on a nice pass from Koletta Dorsher. The goals were Nistler's team leading sixth and seventh of the season.

Four minutes later first year Kaitlin Kramer got into the scoring action. Kramer's fourth goal of the season was an unassited long range shot from outside the box that sailed passed the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper.

Fellow first year Sam Levercom closed out the scoring in the first half when she took a feed from Breanna Olsen at the 26:58 mark. Along with owning a 4-0 half-time lead the Wildcats held a 22-3 edge in shots.

The  second half saw more of the same. The Wildcats outshot the Knights 17-2 and scored three goals.

First year Megan Gosselin scored the first two goals of the second half. Madeliene Bickel assisted on the first goal at the 46:11 mark of the game.

Gosselin's second goal came about ten minutes later and was the most beautiful goal of the game. Nistler dropped the ball back to an on rushing Gosselin whose one-timer sailed into the top corner of the net.

Levercom's second goal of the game closed out the scoring. Sam headed a long pass from Sydney Malanaphy into the net at the 66:28 mark of the game. It was the fourth goal of the season for Levercom. The assist was Malanphy's first collegiate point.

With the win the Wildcats have guaranteed themselves the program's first .500 record since the soccer team became part of the MIAC in 2000-01. The team is now 8-7-2 overall. They play their final game of the season on Saturday November 1 against Hamline University at 1 pm.
